Frequently Asked Questions
Starting or returning to therapy can be a daunting idea. It's understandable that you may have some questions about what you can expect as we begin our work together regarding things such as the treatment modalities I use, the conditions I have experience treating, and my values in the therapeutic space.
1
What is your foundation as a therapist?
As a therapist, I believe first and foremost in your right to self-determination and your right to be an active collaborator in the therapeutic process as you strive for healing. I bring with me experience in treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use - and you bring along an expertise in your own lived experience. I see therapy as the process of fitting these two realms of experience together.

I also believe in the philosophy of harm reduction and benefit maximization in regard to substance use and addiction, and support clients in finding relationships with substances that feel supportive of their lives. This relationship may range from abstinence to moderated use per your desire.
2
What can I expect during my first appointment?
During your first session, we will cover several important topics including a review of the paperwork required for therapy, an orientation to the therapeutic process, a comprehensive assessment, and explore your goals for therapy. We will also discuss confidentiality and the limits of confidentiality in therapy so that you can make an informed decision about the information you share with me.
3
Do you offer in-person or telehealth appointments?
At the moment I am only able to offer tele-health appointments, and I am a part of the SonderMind network, which simplifies the billing and appointment process for both of us. I will send you an invitation to create an account with SonderMind after we decide to work together.
4
How much will therapy cost?
I aim to be as transparent as I am able in all aspects of the therapy I provide, but unfortunately due to the wide array of health insurance plans available, each with different co-pays and deductibles, I am unable to provide you a specific quote. I encourage you to reach out to your insurance company at the number on the back of your insurance card for more information about the costs specific to your health insurance plan. Below is the complete list of insurance companies that I am in-network with through the SonderMind network:

Colorado: Aetna, Anthem, Centivo, Cigna, ClaimDOC, Kaiser Permanente, Lucent, OccuNet, Prime Health, Select Health, TriWest, United Health Care, Unity Preferred Network, VNPN.

Idaho: I am currently in the process of becoming credentialed with insurance plans in Idaho. Stay tuned.

I am also able to accept clients paying out-of-pocket. For those paying out-of-pocket, I can provide the following estimates: $119 for intake and 60-minute sessions; $89 for 45-minute sessions; and $59 for 30-minute sessions. For more information about your specific costs, please contact SonderMind directly.

At this time I do not offer sessions on a sliding-scale or pro-bono basis. However, if cost will be a barrier to treatment I am happy to discuss referrals to providers that do offer such options, or to explore cost-reducing options such as shorter sessions or less frequent sessions, as clinically appropriate.
